A Tempting Evening with
Tawdry Trivia

At Mind Caviar we know you-- our readers-- are both literate and hedonists, so we are always looking for ways to combine these two attributes into sexy and fun ideas. Creme de la Creme is usually strictly a recipe column, with some sexy tidbits thrown in. This issue, we thought we'd introduce you to a cocktail party for six that you'll likely never forget with a board game you'll simply love.

First, invite a total of six guests, including yourself, over for cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and a bawdy game. You may explain that the game is played much like Trivial Pursuit, but with a sexy twist.

On the evening of the party, after you've created these tempting bites, light some vanilla-scented candles and some sandalwood incense, put on Miles Davis softly playing in the background, break out a lightly chilled bottle of Pinot Noir, and offer your guests these easy appetizers before playing.

Tawdry Trivia

Almond Stuffed Olives
Large jar of Quality Queen pimiento-stuffed green olives
1 tin of smoked almonds

Drain olives and remove pimientos. Stuff each olive with one smoked almond. Arrange on a serving platter.

Cocktail Turn-overs
3 oz. package Philadelphia Cream Cheese, softened to room temperature
1 stick unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup 100% stone ground whole wheat flour
Anchovy paste to taste

Mix first three ingredients together. Chill dough until firm in the refrigerator a few hours. Roll out dough on floured board until it is paper thin. Cut with a round cookie cutter or use a glass. Spread anchovy paste on half of round. Fold over into a half-moon shape and seal by pressing edges with a fork. Bake in pre-heated 450 degrees oven until lightly brown, about five minutes. Delicious warm or served at room temperature.

Remolaude Sauce for Boiled Shrimp
1.5 cups quality prepared (Blue Plate recommended) or homemade mayonnaise
2 TBS Zatarain's Creole mustard (in a pinch, brown deli mustard will do-- but it is not most desirable)
2 TBS Heinz Ketchup
1 TBS Louisiana brand hot sauce
1/2 TBS Lea & Perrins Worchestershire sauce
1 clove fresh garlic crushed, then minced (do not use a press)
1 TBS freshly squeezed lemon juice, seeded
1 TBS prepared white horseradish
1 tsp. sugar or 1 packet Splenda sweetner
fresh cracked black pepper to taste

Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Top with freshly chopped parsley or dried parsley flakes. Serve chilled as a dipping sauce with chilled, boiled shrimp which have been prepared with Zatarain's crab & shrimp boil. Serve with fresh lemon wedges, as well.

Playing Tawdry Trivia

Seat your guests comfortably on cushions around a large cocktail table, or dim the chandeliers softly and seat them at your dining room table. Keep the lighting bright enough to read the question cards, though.

When you open the board game, Tawdry Trivia, the first thing you will notice is the quality of the game itself. It also has easy to follow instructions. Once you start playing, you will see that the game cards will often tempt you and your guests to take risky chances, or pay up some of your play money! "Not wearing panties? Prove it and collect 2000.00" is just one fun example from the cards that I remember from our last round.

If your guests are a bit more reserved than you'd wish, they may simply take the alternate "penalty" explained on the card, which is usually to pass the dice and skip a turn, or pay up. On the other hand, if your guests are raring to show and tell, you may opt to play a randier version of the game, which is included in the game rules. This version is TERRIBLY tawdry as you are even allowed to bribe the banker-- and your clothing items are worth money. What a hoot!

Of course, the game is not based on antics, but on proving your knowledge, as with all trivia-style games. This sexy mix of intellect and sensual dares makes for a very funny and fun time. The categories include such topics as conspicuous consumption, celebrity gaffes, political scandals, ribald quotes, sexual misdeeds, and a variety of other tawdry topics-- even sex ed. The game is perfect for hours of lively and humorous entertainment for literate hedonists who want to spend a boisterous evening vying for intellectual superiority-- or peeking at their playmates' undies and naughty bits.

You can get a far more detailed look at Tawdry Trivia by visiting the Website where you may also purchase the game. By the way... Mind Caviar gets no monetary compensation for advertising this game; we just love it THAT much! And we know you'll love it, too.
